Army man killed in road accident

A Bangladesh Army personnel was killed in a head-on collision between a private car and a motorcycle on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway in the Majra area under Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj district Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified as Imran Hossain, 20, son of Manik Mollah, resident of Darajhat in Bagharpara upazila of Jashore.

Bhatiapara Highway Police Inspector Abu Naeem Mohammad Mofazzal Haque said the Army member Imran Hossain was going home on a motorbike from Dhaka. After reaching the area, a Dhaka-bound private car, coming from the opposite direction, collided head-on with his vehicle around 7 am Saturday morning, leaving him injured.

Later, critically wounded Imran was rushed to a 100-bed hospital in Kashiani, where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

The deadly private car is in the custody of the highway police. However, the driver of the private car escaped. A case was filed with the concerned police station in this connection.
