A group of marginalised farmers were given income-generating support aimed at improving their living and livelihood conditions in Rajshahi on Friday.
Ten farmers were given goats, while two students Tk 12,000 each as education support as part of a two-day long farmer’s learning fair at Fazar Ali Mollah Degree College playground under Tanore Upazila in the district.
Regional Office of Caritas Bangladesh hosted the upazila-level mass-awareness generation fair marking its golden jubilee celebration attended by around 500 from different far-flung areas. The nutrition support project of the organization extended financial assistance to the fair.
On the occasion, five saplings of fruit trees were transplanted on the college campus.
Upazila Chairman Lutfor Haider Rashid, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Pankaz Chandra Debnath, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Sikrity Pramanik, Union Parishad Chairman Ataur Rahman and Caritas Regional Director Sukleash George Costa addressed the opening ceremony.
At the fair, farmers set up 30 stalls showcasing their modern technologies and devices being used in farming activities, varieties of crops, fruits and food and indigenous knowledge.
