Railway Minister grants financial assistance to the underprivileged

Railway Minister Md Nurul Islam attended a function organised in Panchagarh on Thursday as the chief guest where he distributed financial assistance, bicycles and sports equipment from his voluntary grant fund among the indigent people of Boda upazila.

Speaking as the chief gues the Minister said the government is helping the neglected people to improve their financial and living standards by bringing them under the social security program.

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly to realise the dream that Bangabandhu dreamed of to bring smiles to the faces of poor and miserable people,” he said.

The Minister added that PM Sheikh Hasina loves the people of the country, and the people of the country also love her in return.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Soleiman Ali presided over the function while Upazila Parishad Chairman Faruk Alam Tobi, Municipal Mayor Advocate Wahiduzzaman Shuja among others spoke.

103 indigent people of the upazila were given a grant of Tk 5,000 each from the minister’s voluntary grant fund. Besides, bicycles, sports and musical equipment were distributed among 100 poor meritorious students of the upazila.

Previously 95 more indigent people of Debiganj upazila of the district were given a financial grant of Tk 5,000 from the minister’s voluntary grant fund.
