6 electrical goods traders fined Tk 25,000

The Department of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) fined six traders Tk 25,000 for charging high prices of electrical goods at different places in Rangpur district on Tuesday afternoon.

Officials said the DNCRP with the assistance of the police in separate drives fined the traders at Gangachara Upazila Market in Gangachara upazila town and Nababganj Bazar and New Market area in Rangpur city.

Assistant Director of the DNCRP at its Rangpur district office Afsana Pervin conducted the drives at Gangachara Upazila Market while its Deputy Director at Rangpur divisional office Jahangir Alam at Nababganj Bazar and New Market in Rangpur city.

The traders were penalised for charging higher prices of electrical goods against maximum retail prices, creating artificial crises, not mentioning prices on products, not giving receipts to buyers and not saving purchase and sale receipts.

The DNCRP officials fined owners of Walton and Vision showrooms in Gangachara Upazila Market and Tk 5,000 each in Gangachara upazila town.

Besides, four electrical goods traders were fined Tk 15,000 in Nababganj Bazaar and New Market for the reasons in Rangpur city.

Among the four electrical goods trading shops, MK Electronics was fined Tk 5,000, Ohid Store Tk 3,000, Noor Electronics Tk 3,000 and Raju Store was fined Tk 4,000 during the drives in Rangpur city. At the same time, the traders were warned and instructed to sell electrical goods at fair prices.
