Case filed over SUST  student murder

A case has been filed for stabbing Bulbul Ahmed, a student of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) to death.

SUST Registrar Muhammed Ishfaqul Islam on behalf of the university filed the case around 1 am on Tuesday.

Following Bulbul’s death, general students of the university held rallies and processions on the campus and blocked the Sylhet-Sunamganj highway until 1 am. Later, they left the highway on the request of the university’s vice-chancellor Farid Uddin Ahmed.

Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) Deputy Commissioner (North) Azbahar Ali Sheikh said, “Whoever the criminals are will be brought under the purview of the law. Police are searching for the criminals. Those involved in the killing will be arrested soon.”

Earlier, Bulbul Ahmed was stabbed to death on the university campus on Monday evening.

Assistant Proctor Abu Hena Pohil said, “Some students found Bulbul lying in a pool of blood on the mound inside the campus after the evening. They rescued him and immediately took him to MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital where duty doctors declared him dead.”
