Weeklong tree fair begins in Narail

A weeklong tree fair began at Zila Shilpakala Academy premises in Narail district town on Saturday.

The theme of this year is Brikkhoropone Prokriti-Poribesh, Agami Projonmer Teksoi Bangladesh.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Habibur Rahman formally inaugurated the fair as the chief guest, held at Zila Shilpakala Academy premises, jointly organised by District Administration and Forest Department.

On the occasion of the day, a colourful rally was brought out from in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office and ended at Zila Shilpakala Academy premises in the district.

After the rally, a discussion meeting was also held at the Zila Shilpakala Academy premises with Forest Department divisional officer SM Sazzad Hossain in the chair.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Fakhrul Hasan, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sadia Islam, Narail municipality mayor Anjuman Ara, and Assistant Conservator of Forest Amita Mondal, among others, were present on the occasion.

The speakers underscored the need for planting more trees at the homesteads and open spaces to protect the environment from its degradation.
