Call to stand beside visually impaired people

Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) AHM Khairuzzaman Liton called for standing by the visually impaired people for their proper rehabilitation besides facilitating them to lead normal life.

He viewed that differently able people are subjected to repression and oppression by their surroundings since childhood because of their disability.

Side by side with the government’s initiative, community support is crucial for improving their living and livelihood conditions as they are an integral part of the society.

Mayor Liton came up with the observation while giving certificates among participants of a training course on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for visually impaired people at city bhaban conference hall here today as chief guest.

Institute of Hazrat Muhammad (SM) organized the training financially supported by Northern Electricity Supply Company (NESCO) aimed at generating self-employment for the visually impaired people.

RCC Chief Executive Officer Dr Sharif Uddin, Adviser of the institute Sheikh Abdul Latif Al Madani, NESCO Managing Director Zakiul Islam and Executive Engineer Abdur Rasid also spoke on the occasion.

Mayor Liton said instead of neglecting the physically challenged people, they should be built as efficient workforces to make Bangladesh prosperous.
