Aman transplanting nears completion

Aman paddy transplanting works nearing completion in Panchagarh with the hope of bumper production despite inadequate rainfalls this season.

Farmers and farm labourers are passing their busy time transplanting Aman rice seedlings on their croplands and nurturing the fields with much enthusiasm for getting more rice output.

The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) official sources said, 99,695 hectares of land have been brought under Aman cultivation in all five upazilas with the production target of 3,26,644 metric tons of fresh rice in this season.

Deputy Director of DAE, Panchagarh Rias Uddin said the Aman growers have already completed 90 per cent of farmlands transplantation of Aman seedlings and the remaining lands will be completed next week.

The Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC) distributed high-quality Aman seeds to the farmers of the district at a fair price.

The department has distributed Aman seeds, fertilisers and other agriculture inputs among 400 farmers at a cost of free to make the cultivation programme a success.

Different commercial banks including Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan bank also has been distributed easy-term loans to the farmers.

The department has given modern technology training to the farmers for boosting bumper production.
