Landless people in Madaripur get houses in a peaceful environment under Ashrayan project– Shafik Swapon

The Prime Minister’s shelter project on the occasion of Mujib Year has brought smiles to the faces of the helpless and landless people of Madaripur.

Many who never thought of ever having their own house on their own land, now own a house with two decimal lands. These landless people have started living in a peaceful environment in a house with two rooms and a balcony.

Jhumur, a physically challenged woman has been left homeless after the death of her parents. “I am immensely grateful for this gift of a house from the Prime Minister,” she said.

Like her, another 126 families of the Madaripur district have received houses with land as a gift from the Prime Minister in the third phase of the shelter project.

The Deputy Commissioner of Madaripar, Dr Rahima Khatun, said the current government is working not only to provide houses with land but also to change the socio-economic conditions of the lives of the landless.

A total of 1,010 families have been provided houses along with land in three phases in the Madaripur district. In the third phase, 126 homeless families have been handed over house deeds and keys along with land. Madaripur Sadar upazila has been declared Homeless free upazila.
