Couple burnt as miscreants set ablaze house

A young couple have sustained burn injuries as some miscreants set their house on fire at Patnitala upazila in Naogaon district.

The incident took place at Amdadpur Kamalbari village around 9 pm on Wednesday.

The victims are Ripon Miah, 24, and his wife Halima, 20, residents of the village.

It was learned that Ripon and his wife Halima went to sleep at night after dinner as usual. At that time, some miscreants poured petrol on the house through the back window. The fire, however, quickly engulfed the entire house, leaving the couple burnt.

Hearing their screams, neighbors rushed to the house and took the couple to Patnitala Upazila Health Complex where they were referred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
