A 13-year-old boy, who was tortured allegedly by the family members of his friend in Cox’s Bazar – died Sunday night. The deceased was identified as Sazzad, son of Nurul Huda.
According to the case statement, Sazzad had an argument with his friend on Friday. Hearing it, his friend’s father Abdus Salam and elder brother Alam forcefully brought Sazzad to their house in Islamabad area the next day and tortured him after tying him with a rope.
Locals later rescued Sazzad and took him to his home. As his condition deteriorated, he was admitted to a local clinic around 7pm on Sunday where he succumbed later.
As the incident came into light, angry locals caught Alam and handed him over to police. A murder case has been filed and one of the accused were arrested, said Officer-in-Charge of Eidgaon Police Station Md Abdul Halim.
OC Abdul Halim said the victim’s father Nurul Huda filed the murder case with Eidgaon police station against Sazzad’s friend, his father Abdus Salam, mother Minuara Begum and elder brother Alam.
Police are trying to arrest the three other accused, the OC said, adding that the body of Sazzad has been sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
