Export-import activities between Bangladesh and India via Hili Land Port of Dinajpur and Sonamasjid Land Port of Chapainawabganj will remain suspended for eight days from Friday on the occasion of Durga Puja, port authorities said.
General Secretary of the Customs, Clearing and Forwarding Agents Association (CC and FAA) of Hili Land Port Jamil Hossain Cholonto said, “Import-export activities would remain suspended through the land port from September 30 to October 7 next.”
He said imports, exports, customs clearance, loading and unloading of the goods will resume again through the land port from October 8 next after the vacation marking the greatest religious festival Durga Puja of the Sanatan community.
Officer-in-Charge of the immigration check post (ICP) at the HLP Md Badiuzzaman said the movement of passport-visa holder citizens will remain normal through the ICP during the period despite the closure of import and export activities.
Sonamasjid Land Port C&F Agents Association General Secretary Abdur Rashid said trade activities will remain suspended from Friday to October 7, including weekly holidays, on the occasion of Durga puja.
Port activities will resume on October 8, he said adding that loading and unloading activities of imported goods at the port will remain normal during this period.
