Three fishermen were burnt as a gas cylinder exploded on a fishing trawler in Bhola Char Fasson.
The explosion took place in the three Char areas of the Meghna River near Char Nizam of Dhalchar at around 9 pm on Sunday, Abdus Salam Hawdar, UP chairman of Dhal Char, confirmed the matter.
The burnt fishermen are Nur Alam, son of Mazhar Uddin, Manj, son of Nasir Mazhi of Char Nizam village, and Habib Ullah, son of Rustum Ali.
The fishermen said that three fishermen were cooking dinner by throwing nets in the river at night. Before they realized anything suddenly, the gas cylinder used for their cooking exploded with a loud noise, in which three fishermen were burnt.
Dr Fayyaz Uddin Khan said among the three people who were burnt, the condition of one named Noor Alam is very critical. About a third of his body was burnt. The other two have burn wounds on about 20 parts of their bodies. They are being treated under close care.
Dhal Char UP Chairman Abdus Salam Hawdar said that immediately after receiving the news, three burnt fishermen were rescued with the help of other fishermen and admitted to Char Fashion Hospital. However, among the burned fishermen, the condition of a fisherman named Noor Alam is very critical.
Sakhawat Hossain, Officer in Charge (OC) of South Aicha police station said have not been informed about the matter.
