Lightning kills 5 brick kiln workers

A lightning strike killed five brick kiln workers and injured one other in Pirganj upazila of Rangpur Tuesday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Jabbar, 30, son of Abdul Jalil of Chak Solagari village, Nazmul, 20, son of Badsha Mia of Dhaperhat Tilakpara village of Gaibandha’s Sadullapur upazila, Siam, 25, son of Shirul of Chakandi village of Idilpur union, Shahadat Hossain, 25, son of Al-Amin and Rashedul, 27.

The injured worker Mehedul of Kabilpur union has been admitted to the hospital.

The incident took place in Bakul Miah’s brick kiln in Kabilpur union near the Dhaka-Rangpur highway in Pirganj at around 3pm Tuesday.

Confirming this, the officer-in-charge of Pirgonj police station, Abdul Auwal said the dead bodies were handed over to the family members.
