Tenant allegedly kills landlord’s 6-year-old child

Tenants have allegedly killed the six-year-old daughter of the landlord after demanding rent arrears in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj. The accused tenant Moriom Akhter, 35, and her two children have been arrested in this regard.

According to the police, the deceased- Maria Akhter’s body was recovered from the third-floor window sunshade of her father Farooq Mia’s house in the Balaikhan area of ​​Bhulta Union of the upazila on Tuesday around 8 pm.

Locals said Moriom Akhtar of Brahmanbaria rented a flat on the third floor of Farooq Mia’s house five months ago. She lived there with a son and a daughter.

Moriom had an argument with Farooq on Monday afternoon over the arrear money said Maria’s uncle Ruhul Amin adding, “The tenant Moriom left my niece on the window sunshade after killing her.”

Six-year-old Maria was missing since 11am on Tuesday. After searching for her throughout the day, the family members found her body laying on the third-floor window sunshade at around 6pm.

After receiving the information, the police recovered Maria’s body around 8 pm.

“An investigation is ongoing in this regard. Details will be known after their interrogation,” OC (Investigation) of Rupganj Police Station Humayan Kabir Molla said.
