Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) has fixed a target to bring 1,29,630 hectares of land under Boro cultivation in Jamalpur district.
According to DAE office sources, farmers will cultivate three varieties of Boro paddy of which High-breed on 49,900 hectares with a production target of 2,47,504 tonnes rice, High Yeilding Variety on 79,500 hectares with a production target 3,14,025 tonnes rice and local on 230 hectares with a production target 437 tonnes rice.
This year Agriculture Department has fixed the production target of Boro 5,61,966 tonnes in all the seven upazilas of the district. Deputy Director, DAE, Zakia Sultana said target of seed bed was fixed on 6586 hectares of land to achieve the cultivation target.
