Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder, MP, has said sheep farming can play a vital role towards meeting up the existing demands for animal proteins.
“Present government under the prudent and farsighted leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has adopted diversified steps to ensure adequate safe animal proteins to all,” he added.
The minister came up with the observation while distributing sheep and sheep rearing house building materials at Niamatpur High School premises under Naogaon district on Sunday as chief guest.
On the occasion, around 400 ethnic minority families were given support under the ethnic minority people animal resource development project.
The minister said the present government has been providing different types of allowances to bring all the disadvantaged communities under a safety net. With these initiatives, living and livelihood conditions of the public, in general, have been improved, he added.
He also said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given direction to bring every inch of land under farming.
“All of us should give utmost emphasis to boost crop production to meet the country’s demands,” he added.
Sadhan Chandra told the public gathering that there is no crisis of fertilizer as there is adequate stock.
Besides, he said the government has given subsidies worth Taka 48,000 crore for importing fertilizer. He urged the people to stand beside the government for the development of the country.
Upazila Chairman Farid Ahmed, UNO Faruque Sufian and district livestock officer Mohir Uddin also spoke on the occasion.
