SDC’s role significant in saving lives: Gini

Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad and local lawmaker Mahabub Ara Begum Gini on Sunday said Sandhani Donor Club (SDC) is playing important role in collecting blood by motivating people aimed at saving the lives of seriously ill patients and wounded persons.

Mahabub Ara Begum Gini said this while addressing a function for the 32nd founding anniversary of Sandhani Donor Club (SDC), Gaibandha as the chief guest in Gaibandha.

She also urged all to come forward with an attitude of sacrifice to donate blood to help other people for the sake of humanity.

The founding anniversary of Sandhani Donor Club (SDC), Gaibandha was celebrated in Gaibandha on Sunday amid much enthusiasm and festivity to all concerned.

Marking the anniversary, SDC, Gaibandha district unit chalked out the elaborate programmes. In the morning, the national and organisational flags were hoisted in front of the SDC office in the town here.

Later, a big colourful rally led by the civil surgeon (CS) Dr Abdullahel Mafi was brought out from the premises of SDC and ended at the same venue after parading the main roads of the town.

The programme was followed by a discussion meeting that was held with CS Dr Abdullahel Mafi in the chair.

Chairman of Gaibandha Zila Parishad Abu Bakar Siddique, President of Bangladesh Medical Association, district unit, and adviser of the club Dr Matiar Rahman and principal of Gaibandha Government College professor Khalilur Rahman addressed it, among others, while secretary of SDC Queen Akhter moderated the ceremony.

CS Dr Abdullahel Mafi who is also the president of the SDC here said the club was established on December 04, 1990, and since then, a total of 50,000 bags of blood had been collected from the donors.

The bags of blood had been able to save the lives of at least 30,000 people, he added.

Later, 21 blood donors were awarded honour crest rest for a voluntary donation of more than 10 bags of blood.
