RCC to make waste management system modernised

Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) AHM Khairuzzaman Liton has said they will modernise the city’s waste management system aimed at establishing a clean and hygienic atmosphere.

To this end, the city corporation is going to implement the ‘Solid Waste Management Project’.

Under the project, a waste management treatment plant will be established and fertiliser and gas will be produced from waste through the plant. The treatment plant will be operated through the power to be produced from gas.

Mayor Liton came up with the observation while addressing a stakeholder view-sharing meeting at the city bhaban conference hall on Tuesday afternoon.

On behalf of its ‘Technical Assistant Project on Integrated Waste Management Project’, the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) organised the meeting.

City Mayor Liton told the meeting that the Rajshahi city has already been turned into a clean, habitable and safe with limited resources and money. Conservancy workers are working relentlessly to keep the city neat and clean.

He added that ten secondary transfer stations have already been constructed.

Panel Mayor Shariful Islam Babu, Chief Engineer Nur Islam, Chief Conservancy Officer Sheikh Mamun and Engineering Adviser Ashraful Haque, among others, were present on the occasion.
