Netrakona Tragedy Day by JMB outfits observed

The Tragedy Day, a massacre carried out by the suicide bombers of banned outfit JMB at local Udichi office premises in 2005, was observed in Netrakona on Thursday by paying tributes to the memories of the massacre victims.

On this day in 2005, a suicide bomber of the JMB carried out a bomb attack at the office of Netrakona Udichi Shilpi Gosthi killing eight persons including Udici‘s two front ranking leaders-Khaja Haider and Sudipto Paul Shelly and injuring over 50 people.

To mark the day, Netrakona Tragedy Day Celebration Committee chalked out elaborate programmes.

The day’s programmes were formally started in the morning as people from all walks of life including political leaders, people’s representatives, freedom fighters and cultural activists paid tributes by placing floral wreaths at the memorial monument of the victims at the Udici office premises here.

As part of the programs, a protest rally against fundamentalism and militancy was brought out in the town.
