The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) distributed seeds and fertilisers free of cost as agricultural incentives among 3,100 small and marginal farmers during the current Rabi season in Manpura upazila of Bhole on Thursday.
Manpura Upazila Parishad Chairman Selina Akhter inaugurated the programme as the chief guest held at the Hajir Hat Union Parishad premises with Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Ashish Kumar Ray in the chair.
Upazila Administration and the DAE jointly organised the function.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Md Abu Hasnain, Upazila Awami League Vice-President AKM Shahjahan Miah and Union Parishad Panel Chairman Md Abu Zafar, among others, spoke at the function
A total of 14 tonnes of seeds and 52 tonnes of fertilisers have been allocated for the farmers. Around 500 hectares of land can be cultivated.
The seeds and fertilisers were distributed under the agricultural incentive and rehabilitation programme in the current Rabi season with a view to increasing the production of wheat, maize, mustard, sunflower, kesari lentil, and groundnut and mung dal, upazila agriculture officer Md. Abu Hasnain said.
