International Anti-Corruption Day-2022 was observed across the country on Friday in a befitting manner through various programmes. The theme of the day was “Uniting the world against corruption”.
In Khulna, a meeting was held on the occasion at the District Commissioner’s conference room Friday morning. Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Zillur Rahman Chowdhury was present as the chief guest.
The speakers present said the people should be involved in fighting corruption socially and nationally. Corruption cannot be curbed without public involvement. The wheel of development and progress of the country should be kept moving by preventing corruption. Corruption will not be curbed until the common people can come together and voice their opinions properly.
Also, the state should be vocal against corruption. Corruption can be eradicated through goodwill. The honest thoughts of people can change a country. Speakers called upon everyone to be aware and active to prevent corruption in family, society and the workplace.
Khulna District Commissioner Khandkar Yasir Arefin, Government Brajalal College Principal Professor Sharif Atikuzzaman, Additional Superintendent of Police Md Tanveer Ahmed, and freedom fighter Md Alamgir Kabir were present as special guests. Sheikh Ashraf-uz-Zaman, General Secretary of the District Anti-Corruption Committee opened the event. Md Manjur Morshed, Director of the Khulna Divisional Office of Anti-Corruption Commission presided over the meeting.
Earlier, a human chain was held from Khulna City Corporation to the Deputy Commissioner’s office on the occasion of the day.
In Hili, Dinajpur, upazila Anti-Corruption Committee held a human chain on the occasion of International Anti-Corruption Day 2022.
This was followed by the official introduction of National and Anti-Corruption Commission Flag Hoisting Day. Later Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Noor A Alam presided over the programme and the chief guest speech was given by Upazila Chairman Harun ur Rashid Harun. Upazila Anti Corruption Committee vice president Sirajul Islam, and member Tofazzal Hossain among others spoke at the occasion.
The speakers highlighted the significance of Anti-Corruption Day and called upon everyone to come forward to prevent corruption.
In Panchagarh, the national flag was hoisted in front of the Central Shaheed Minar on Friday in observance of International Anti-Corruption Day 2022. Later, the day started auspiciously by releasing balloons and festoons.
Officers and employees of public and private institutions of the district and teachers and students of various educational institutions participated in the human chain organised by the Anti-Corruption Committee.
Deputy Commissioner Md Zahurul Islam, Superintendent of Police SM Sirajul Huda, Principal of Panchagarh Government Women’s College Professor Md Mainur Rahman, Tahasin Munabeel Haque, Assistant Director of Thakurgaon District Office of Anti-Corruption Commission, General Secretary of District Anti-Corruption Committee, Vir Muktijoddha Saykhul Islam among others were present.
In Naogaon, the programme started with the hoisting of the National and the Anti-Corruption Commission’s (ACC) flags in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Khalid Mehdi Hasan hoisted the national flag and ACC Deputy Director Mohammad Mahmudur Rahman hoisted the ACC flag.
Marking the day, a human chain programme was held in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Various district-level offices, non-governmental development organizations, educational institutions and socio-cultural organizations participated in the programme.
A discussion was held in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Khalid Mehdi Hasan addressed the function as the chief guest with District Anti-Corruption Committee President Shaktipad Chowdhury in the chair.
