Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has been implementing various types of need-oriented infrastructural development works aimed at making the city more clean, green as well as habitable.

The uplift works are being implemented under the Tk 2,993 crore project titled ‘Integrated Urban Infrastructure Development in Rajshahi City’ throughout the city at present.

RCC Mayor and Presidium Member of Bangladesh Awami League AHM Khairuzzaman Liton revealed this while addressing a view-sharing meeting related to the ongoing development projects at the city bhaban conference hall Thursday evening.

In the meeting, he asked the engineers to infuse dynamism into the ongoing works besides the implementation of the schemes quickly.

Mayor Liton said the city has got a new look amid massive infrastructural development works during the last four years making the people happy.

Broaden streets, clean atmosphere, road dividers with green trees and plants and crafts, improved civic amenities and eye-catching street lighting at night have made the city attractive enormously.

He also said they will construct five more flyovers with the main thrust of overall development of the metropolis through freeing it from traffic congestion.

In addition to the flyovers, various development works are being implemented under the project scheduled to be completed by June 2024.

A total of ten foot-over bridges will also be constructed. Liton said Sheikh Russel Shishu Park is being established in the Chhotobangram area at a cost of around Tk 4.43 crore.

He said Rajshahi city will get a new look upon the successful implementation of the mega project. “We are working relentlessly to make the city green and habitable,” he said, adding that they have adopted three more uplift projects amounting to Tk 2,705.08 crore for infrastructural development.

The burial plaque of Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman, one of the four national leaders, will be built in the Kadirganj area in the city for facilitating the scope to know about the life, works and devotion of the national leader.

Liton said they have planned to conserve 22 natural water bodies under a project titled “Natural Water Bodies Conservation and Development in Rajshahi City” to retain its surface water resources for protecting the environment from further degradation.
