13 Jamaat, Shibir activists held in Chandpur

Police arrested 13 Jamaat, Shibir workers from Lakepar area in Chandpur  on Saturday.

Chandpur Model Thana police team arrested them from a rally, said local sources.

The arrested are Kachua upazila’s Mujahidul Islam Tanha, 25, Shamsul Haque Faisal, 22, Hajiganj upazila’s Mohiuddin Miji, 45, Rahat Hossain, 22, Nazim Uddin, 22, of Haimchar upazila, Chandpur Sadar upazila’s Md Saikat Hossain, 20, Md Saqib Molla, 19, Hafez Md Nadirul Islam, 18, Md Mahfuz Sheikh, 21, Suman Sardar, 32, Md Shaheen Gazi, 25, Md Sajib Uddin, 18, Shahed Hossain Pradhania, 22.

Officer-in-charge of Chandpur Model Thana Muhammad Abdur Rashid said those who have been detained from the Jamaat mass procession are being interrogated. He added that legal action will be taken against them after verifying their crimes.

On Friday, at around 10am, Chandpur district Jamat activists brought out a mass rally to realize their 10-point demands as part of the previously announced programmes.

After going around the city, the procession ended at Matripith Government Girls' High School area. District Jamaat Ameer Maulana Abdur Rahim Patwari addressed a short gathering there.
