Three killed in road crashes

At least three people were killed in separate road accidents in Gopalganj and Kushtia on Sunday.

In Gopalganj, one passenger of a battery-run easy bike was killed and four others were injured in a road accident in the district on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Amanullah Biswas, 22, son of Abdul Biswas of Bathandanga village of Kashiani upazila of the district. All the injured are from the same family.

Kashiani’s Bhatiapara Highway Police Inspector Shariful Islam said that the accident took place near Dulal Saha stand in the Batraidhopa area on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway around 12:30 pm.

He said a Dhaka-bound-passenger bus named ‘Tungipara Express’ hit the battery-run easy bike on the Dhaka-Khulna highway, leaving Amanullah dead on the spot.

The injured are receiving treatment at Gopalganj 250-Bed General Hospital, he added.

In Kushtia, a biker and his pillion rider were killed as the motorcycle carrying them collided with a trolley in Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia Saturday night. The deceased were identified as motorcycle rider Irfan, 34, and Ashiq, 24, of the district.
