Over Tk 8,800 crore projects await approval in Cox’s Bazar

AKM Enamul Hoque Shameem, the deputy minister of the Ministry of Water Resources said the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) is awaiting approval of a project worth Tk 8,859 crore in Cox's Bazar.

So far BWDB has implemented projects worth Tk 709 crore in the district, and another project worth Tk 400 is currently being executed by them.

the deputy minister said this during a press briefing in the district.

During the briefing, he also said measures will be taken before the monsoon to prevent damage to the sea beach and coastal areas. Meanwhile, the minister met with the officials of the district administration at the BWDB auditorium to discuss further
development projects.

In the meeting presided over by Chief Engineer of BWDB South Eastern region Shibendu Khastgir, Awami League Religious Affairs Secretary Sirajul Mostafa, Cox's Bazar district Awami League President Faridul Islam Chowdhury, General Secretary Mujibur Rahman, member of parliament Saimum Sarwar Kamal, member of parliament Ashek Ullah Rafiq, Executive Engineer of Cox's Bazar BWDB Dr Tanjeel Saif Ahmed, Additional District Magistrate Abu Sufian and other officials were present.

Earlier on Tuesday, the deputy minister visited the temporary defence dams constructed under the BWDB at several beach points in Cox's Bazar, including Kabita Chatwar, and Labani Point, which were damaged. Deputy Commissioner of Cox's Bazar Muhammad Shaheen Imran along with senior government officials were present.
