The historic Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed in various districts including Rajshahi, Chattogram, Manikganj, Gaibandha and Netrakona in a befitting manner with various programmes on Tuesday.
Rajshahi district of Awami League and its front organisations and different other institutions Tuesday observed the historic Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in a befitting manner.
Marking the day, Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) garlanded the portrait of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the city bhaban premises. RCC officials and ward councillors also offered special prayers seeking divine blessing for the eternal peace of his departed soul.
The leaders and workers of the party hoisted national and party flags atop party offices and garlanded the portraits of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four other national leaders this morning.
A discussion was also held highlighting the life and works of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Rajshahi Medical University observed the day at its temporary campus in the city. Vice-chancellor of the university Prof Mustaque Hossain was present on the occasion.
Rajshahi College unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League also brought out a procession in the city, marking the historic day.
Homecoming Day was also observed at Rajshahi University (RU) through various programmes. Besides, the RU unit of Bangabandhu Parishad and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall observed the day.
In Chattogram, marking the day, the south and north district units of AL hoisted national and party flags atop party offices placed wreaths at Bangabandhu’s portraits at all party offices and held discussion meetings, milad and doa mahfils.
Leaders and workers of the Chattogram, city, north and south district AL also offered special prayers seeking divine blessing for eternal peace of his departed soul.
Separate colourful processions were brought out and discussions were arranged highlighting the life and work of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Meanwhile, different units of BCL brought out several processions in different areas of the city to mark the day.
Chattogram north and south district Awami League also organized separate discussion meetings at their respective party offices in the city this afternoon.
Chattogram North district AL leaders also placed wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation at their respective party offices led by its president M A Salam and Secretary Ataur Rahman.
Besides, Chatogram south district AL leaders placed wreaths at Bangabandhu portrait at its Andarkillah Party office Tuesday.
In Manikganj Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Abdul Latif distributed blankets among the distressed and cold-stricken sports personalities under the auspices of the Manikganj District Sports Association (DSA) at the Manikganj Shaheed Miraj-Tapon Stadium. Manikganj DSA Vice President Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC-Gen.) Sanwarul Haque, General Secretary Manikganj DSA Sudeb Saha among others present on the occasion.
Manikganj district Jubo Awami League arranged a discussion, Doa Mahfil and distribution of blankets among the poor people at the local party office on the occasion.
The function was presided over by District Jubo League Convenor Abdur Razzaque Raja and it was addressed, among others by District joint Convenor Mahbubur Rahman Jony, Convening committee Member Samiur Rahman and former district BCL President Rafiqul Islam.
In Netrakona, the district AL unit and its front organisations chalked out different programs marking the day.
The day’s programme was formally started with the hoisting of the national flag and party flag atop the district AL office and the placing of floral wreaths on the portrait of Bangabandhu by the front-ranking leaders of the AL.
As a part of the programme, a jubilant procession was brought out in the district town from the district AL office and ended in front of the AL office after parading the main roads of the town.
President of AL Netrakona district unit Advocate Amirul Islam and its general secretary Advocate Shamsur Rahman Liton led the procession.
In Gaibandha, marking the day, the AL district unit and its front and like-minded organisations chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the day.
The programmes included hoisting national and party flags atop the party offices, placing floral wreaths at the portraits of Bangabandhu and holding milad and doa mahfil seeking the salvation of Bangabandhu and his deceased family members.
