Over 71,000 blankets distributed among cold-hit people in M’singh

Mymensingh district administration distributed 71,050 blankets among the distressed people in all 13 upazilas of Mymensingh district. The blankets were distributed as gift of Prime Minister Sheik Hasina, said District Relief and Rehabilitation Office (DRRO) sources.

DRRO Sanuar Hosain said that blankets were distributes under the supervision of the upazila administration. Sources said, of the total distributed blankets 5390 in Sadar upzila, 4900 in Muktagacha, 6370 in Phulbaria, 5880 in Trishal, 5390 Bhaluka , 7350 in Gafargeon, 6370 in Nandail, 5390 Ishwargonj, 4900 in Gouripur, 4900 in Tarakanda, 4900 Phulpur, 5880 in Haluaghat and 3430 in Dobaura upazila of the district.

Besides, a total of 4900 blankets were distributed among the cold hit distressed people in 10 Pourashavas of the district so far, DRRO said. After getting the blankets, the beneficiaries have expressed gratefulness to the Prime Minister for her gift like blankets.

RCC Mayor distributes blankets among 800 harijan people

Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) Mayor and Awami League Presidium Member AHM Khairuzzaman Liton distributed blankets among more than 800 destitute people coming from Rabidas and harijan communities to protect them from cold during the current winter season.

He handed over the blankets at a simple ceremony held in Luxmipur area of the city on Saturday afternoon.

RCC Ward Councilors Kamal Hossain and Muhammad Nuruzzaman, Rajshahi city unit General Secretary of Hindu, Buddhist and Christian Oikya Parishad Shyamal Kumar Ghosh, Organizing Secretary Uzzal Ghosh and Organizing Secretary of Rabidas Unnayan Parishad Liton Rabidas were present at the distribution programme.

Liton said the present government under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is extending need-based support to mitigate the sorrow of the cold stricken people.
