Niamatpur Upazila Health Complex (UHC) got a new look amid some innovative steps making the surrounding public in general, particularly the service recipients, delighted.
Compounds of the UHC in Naogaon district have been enriched with varieties of flowers and other ornamental and decorative plants. A similar situation has been prevailing in its corridors and veranda.
When anyone enters the 50-bed health facility he or she can enjoy the taste of a mini amusement park.
Upazila Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr Mahbub Ul Alam told BSS that the abandoned and fallen spaces of the health complex were made attractive with flower plants with limited resources.
Apart from the environmental improvement, the facility has become uplifted in terms of health services.
An attractive waiting room has been made adjacent to the emergency unit, where service recipients and their relatives coming from different far-flung areas can take a rest.
There is a baby corner on the first floor enriched with different toys for the amusement of the kids of patients coming from different areas to receive healthcare services.
Dr Mahbub-Ul-Alam said they improved the hospital situation with the direction and overall support of Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder.
All the non-functional rooms were functional for the welfare of the patients in general.
Medical Officer Dr Pronab Kumar Saha said 50 to 60 patients are admitted to the hospital every day on average in addition to many other outdoor patients. There are 15 posts of doctors in the primary health facility but four posts remain vacant.
Sharmin Akter, who came to the hospital for treatment on Thursday, said they are very much happy with the present improved situation of the facility. "I'm very much pleased after witnessing varieties of flowers and other decorative plants," she added.
