Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA) and Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) Satkhira in a joint drive in Shyamnagar upazila seized 382 kg of honey on Thursday.
The drive was led by BFSA Officer Mokhleshur Rahman and DNCRP Satkhira Assistant Director Nazmul Hasan.
They raided the house of Jindagir Kaguji and also seized molasses and other materials used in adulterating honey. The trader was fined Tk 25,000 in this regard.
BFSA Officer Mokhleshur Rahman said, “Jindagir's wife confirmed that her husband used to make adulterated honey and sell it online at a high price.
With the help of the UNO we destroyed the seized adulterated honey and fined the trades through a mobile court,” he said adding that such drives will continue in the public interest.
