1,311 tonnes black gram produced in Jamalpur

The farmers in the district have produced 1311 tonnes of Black gram (Mashkolai) on 1100 hectares of land this year.

According to the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), the farmers have cultivated black gram on 1100 hectares of land against the target 1050 hectares.

The office said incentives involving Tk 6.66 lakhs were disbursed among 780 small and marginal farmers for increasing Black gram production in the district.

According to the DAE office sources, each of the farmers got five kilograms of Black gram seed, 10 kilograms of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer and 10 kilograms of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer for the cultivation of one Bigha land.

The DAE office said, farmers got 197 tonnes of black gram from 140 hectares of land in Jamalpur Sadar Upazila. Besides 121 tonnes from 103 hectares in Sarishabari, 166 tonnes from 115 hectares in Melandah.
