As many as eight cameras installed at the Sundarbans for the tiger census have reportedly been stolen.
Satkhira Range Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) AKM Iqbal Hossain Chowdhury confirmed the matter on Thursday.
Forest Division said that 376 cameras have already been installed in the Satkhira range. Among them, eight cameras installed in the Notabenki Sanctuary in the Sundarbans are missing.
Fishermen have been banned from entering the forest through two stations in West Sundarbans as the camera installation has begun.
Tiger census by using camera trapping method and by surveying creeks and rivers began in Sundarbans in December.
