Eight shops gutted in Lakshmipur fire

Eight shops were gutted in a fire at Tumchar Janata Bazar in Sadar upazila of Lakshmipur district on Friday.

The fire originated from an electric short circuit at a shop in the Bazar around 7am and soon engulfed the adjacent business establishments, as a result, eight shops were completely burnt in the fire, Lakshmipur Fire Service Station Officer Ranjit Kumar Saha said.

Being informed, Lakshmipur Fire Service and Civil Defense rushed to the spot and doused the blaze with the help of locals and affected businessmen after forty minutes of efforts, he added.

It is initially estimated to have caused a loss of Tk about 15-20lakh, Fire Service Station official said.
