Three killed in road crashes

At least three people were killed in road accidents in Rajshahi and Chattogram districts.

In Rajshahi, two friends travelling on a bike were killed in a collision with a speeding truck in the district’s Charghat upazila Friday afternoon, police said.

The deceased were identified as Anik, 18, son of Tajibur Rahman of Tetuliapukur area of Puthia upazila of Rajshahi and Murad, 17, son of Aminul of the same area.

The accident occurred around 5:30 pm when the truck carrying goods crashed into the bike near the Naodapara area, leaving the duo dead on the spot, Charghat police station officer-in-charge (OC) Mahbubur Alam confirmed.

Police seized the truck, said the OC, adding that its driver and assistant managed to flee. A probe has been ordered into the accident, the OC added.

In Chattogram, a youth was killed in a collision between a CNG-run autorickshaw and a truck in the Rangunia area of Chattogram-Kaptai road on Saturday.
