National Statistics Day observed in Natore

National Statistics Day-2023 was observed in Natore district on Monday for the third time in order to make the government statistics more public-oriented and also to reach data to the doorsteps of people.

The theme of this year of National Statistics Day is 'Development of Statistics System, Formation of Smart Bangladesh (Porishongkhan Bebosthar Unnoyon, Smart Bangladesh Gothon)'.

The Statistics and Informatics Division under the Planning Ministry and the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) observed the day jointly in the district.

On the occasion, a discussion was held in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner's office in the morning and Deputy Commissioner Shamim Ahmed addressed the function as the chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Nadeem Sarwar in the chair.

DC said, "There is no substitute for quality statistical data in proper planning. We get timely, accurate information through the Census and various ongoing survey activities of the Statistics Department. The Statistics Act-2013 has come into effect and the activities of the Statistics Department are now up-to-date."

Deputy Director of District Statistics Office Md Shah Alam, in a power-point presentation, highlighted the country's average per capita income, life expectancy, infant and maternal mortality rate, import-export, and domestic production data.

Earlier, a rally was bought out from the collectorate office premises that paraded different streets in the town in the morning.
