Rajshahi city gets new look

Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has been providing civic services with sincerity and honesty as it’s very much committed to do the same.

Meanwhile, the Rajshahi city has got a new look amid implementation of massive infrastructural development schemes with a competent leadership of its dynamic Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton during his last four and half years tenure.

Broaden streets, cleaned atmosphere, road dividers with green trees and plants and crafts, improved civic amenities and eye-catching street lighting at night have made the city attractive enormously.

The views were expressed at the first meeting of the city level coordination committee (CLCC) at the city bhaban conference hall here on Sunday. RCC organised the meeting aimed at sensitizing the CLCC’s citizens’ members about the city corporation citizens’ survey- 2023.

Local Government Division, Capacity Development of City Corporation (C4C2) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) supported the meeting attended by around 80 members of the committee.

With Panel Mayor Shariful Islam Babu in the chair, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Chief Executive Officer Dr ABM Sharif Uddin, Secretary Moshiur Rahman, Chief Engineer Nur Islam, Chief Conservancy Officer Sheikh Mamun, Chief Revenue Officer Abu Saleh Nur-E-Sayeed and Ward Councilor Anwarul Islam.

C4C2 Project Specialist Rassel Kabir and JICA City Governance Specialist Moni Mala Roy also spoke on the occasion.

Chief Engineer Nur Islam told the meeting that the city corporation has implemented six infrastructure development projects at a cost of around Taka 831.10 crore during the last four years contributing a lot towards making the city beautiful, green and clean.

An east-west connecting road has been constructed from Alif Lam Meem Bhata crossing on the Rajshahi-Naogaon highway to Choddopaya crossing on the Rajshahi-Natore highway via Chhotobangram, Meherchandi, Budhpara and Mohanpur at a cost of around Taka 189.35 crore.

In addition to construction of footpaths on both sides of the 6.793-kilometer road, various need-based modern infrastructures, including a flyover on railway crossing, a bridge, eight culverts and median, were constructed.
