Khulna set to celebrate Bangabandhu’s birth anniversary

Khulna district administration has chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate the 103rd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children’s Day on March 17.

The programmes were finalised today at a preparedness meeting held at the deputy commissioner’s (DC) conference room with DC Khondokar Yasin Arefin in the chair.

The national flags will be hoisted atop of all public and private buildings and the people from all walks of life will place wreathes at Bangabandhu memorial at the DC office premises on the occasion.

A discussion will be held at Shilpakala Academy in presence of freedom fighters to be followed by a cake cutting function and a cultural programme.

Art and essay competition on Bangabandhu’s life among children will be held at Shishu Academy on March 14 and 15.

Special prayers will be offered at mosques, temples, churches and other religious institutions to seek eternal peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and his martyred family members.

Improved diet will be served at all hospitals, orphanage centers and jail to mark the day. State-run Khulna Betar will broadcast special programmes while the local newspapers will bring out special supplements on the occasion.
