PAIM body to meet with cabinet division

Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) Peace Accord Implementation and Monitoring (PAIM) Committee on Thursday decided to hold a meeting with the Cabinet Division to expedite the transfer of different offices and implementation of other pending issues included in the peace treaty.

The decision was taken at the 7th meeting of the committee held at a hotel in Patuakhali district with committee Convener Abul Hasnat Abdullah in the chair, said a press release.

Committee members Jyotirindra Bodhipriya Larma (Shantu Larma) and Kujendra Lal Tripura, MP, joined the meeting, among others.

At the special invitation of the convener of the committee, Chittagong Hill Tract Affairs Minister Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing, CHT Regional Council Member Gautam Kumar Chakma, Dipankar Talukdar, MP, Basanti Chakma, MP, Prime Minister’s former Principal Secretary Abdus Sobhan Sikder and Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Ministry Secretary Mosammat Hamida Begum were present at the meeting.

In the meeting, the committee reviewed the progress of the implementation of the decisions taken in the previous meeting and held discussions on CHT Land Dispute Settlement Commission Rules 2019 and activities of different divisions handed over to the three CHT districts.

It also discussed about creating new organogram for the Convener Office of the Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) Peace Accord Implementation and Monitoring (PAIM) Committee to bring dynamism in committee activities, recruitment process for primary schools in the three hill tracts districts and law and order situation in the districts.

The committee sought cooperation from all in implementing the Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) Peace Accord and reiterated its commitment to gradually implement the historic peace agreements made under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to make the hill region a safe, happy, developed, peaceful and prosperous neighborhood.
