Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industries (RCCI) has arranged a three-day holiday market for the first time in the city.

Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation and Presidium Member of Bangladesh Awami League AHM Khairuzzaman Liton inaugurated the market on both sides of the road towards Rajshahi Circuit House Thursday afternoon as chief guest.

After the inauguration, RCC officials, along with the mayor visited many of the 70 shops set up in the market.

According to sources, the market will remain open from 10am to 10pm until Saturday. After the forthcoming Eid-Ul-Fitr, the market, as its name suggests, will regularly be arranged on Friday and Saturday depending on the entrepreneurs’ interest.

The mayor also said that the holiday market is a huge opportunity for entrepreneurs who do not have a showroom or sales centre of their own.

“Young entrepreneurs can display and sell their products here. On the other hand, customers can also buy various products at affordable prices. RCC will continue to provide full cooperation to keep the holiday market open,” the mayor said.

Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Anisur Rahman and its Additional Commissioner Bijoy Basak and Director of Local Government Enamul Haque also spoke on the occasion with RCCI President Masudur Rahman in the chair.

Masudur Rahman said there are 70 stalls in the three-day holiday market. Initially, this market will be open for three days. This market will be open every Friday and Saturday in the future.

Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Senior Vice President Abdul Awal Khan Chowdhury, Vice President Sultan Mahmud Sumon, Director Farid Uddin, Shahadat Hossain Babu, Mostafizur Rahman, Asaduzzaman Ravi, Md Sadrul Dignitaries and entrepreneurs including Md Sadrul Islam, Motiul Haque Titu were present during the ceremony.
