Country to celebrate Bangabandhu’s birth anniversary today

The country is set to celebrate the 103rd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children’s Day-2023 in a befitting manner today.

Our Rajshahi correspondent reports divisional and district administrations, Awami League (AL), and its associate organisations, Bangabandhu Shishu Kishor Mela, and different socio-cultural and children organisations have chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate the day.

The daylong programmes will begin with the hoisting of national flags atop all public and private buildings at dawn.

At 9 am, various government and non-government organisations, social and cultural bodies, valiant Freedom Fighters and politicians will place wreaths at the murals of Bangabandhu at various places, including the Lakshmipur crossing.

All preparations have been completed to celebrate the 103rd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children’s Day-2023 in Rangpur with a daylong programme in the city.

The district administration with different government and non-governmental institutions and organisations, Awami League (AL), and Rangpur City Corporation have taken up colourful programmes to celebrate the 103rd birth centenary of Bangabandhu.

Official sources said tight security measures would be ensured in celebrating the birth anniversary of Bangabandhu in the city, upazila headquarters and across the district.

The national flag will be hoisted atop all government, semi-government and private buildings.

The celebration will begin with the placing of wreaths at the mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Bangabandhu Square near the DC Mour at 9 am.

The divisional and district-level high-ranking government officials, the Mayor of Rangpur and the District Council Chairman will place wreaths at the mural of Bangabandhu followed by giving a guard of honour there by a smart contingent of police forces.

Later, heroic freedom fighters, leaders of different political parties including Awami League and its associate bodies, heads of different departments, organisations and institutions and common people will place wreaths there.

Special steps will be taken to enable children to place wreaths at the mural of Bangabandhu separately in a hassle-free manner.
