Bangabandhu’s sculpture unveiled

A newly built Bangabandhu Memorial Sculpture was unveiled at Lions School and College, Rangpur (LSCR) preemies on Tuesday to pay rich tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Deputy Commissioner Dr Chitralekha Nazneen formally opened the Bangabandhu Memorial Sculpture mural by unveiling a plaque in a function held at the LSCR premises in the city as the chief guest.

LSCR Principal Md Raihan Sharif presided over the function participated by teachers and students of the institution, executives, officials and members of Lions Club, Rangpur and civil society members.

Chairman of the Governing Body of LSCR and heroic freedom fighter Lion Akbor Hossain and President of Lions Club, Rangpur (LCR), District 315 A2 Lion AKM Baniul Adam Babu addressed the function as special guests.

After the inauguration of the Bangabandhu Memorial Sculpture, Assistant Teacher of LSCR Md Kabirul Islam conducted doa and prayers marking the occasion.

In her speech, the Deputy Commissioner said the young students should know the history of the Great War of Liberation and the struggles for independence under the leadership of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

“The young generations should be informed about the correct national history. For this, the teachers should play an important role and teach with responsibility. We should know Bangabandhu’s ideals and stand by the poor people,” she said.

She called for bringing up the next generations in the spirit of the Great War of Liberation to infuse patriotic zeal in them for building a developed Sonar Bangla as dreamed by Bangabandhu.
