4,100 Natore farmers get agri-incentive

A total of 4,100 small and marginal farmers in Lalpur upazila of Natore district were given seed and fertiliser under the agricultural incentive programme free of cost for the cultivation of high-yielding (ufshi) Aush paddy and jute in the current Kharif season.

To increase the interest of farmers in Aush paddy and jute cultivation, the amount of incentive support and the number of farmers has increased significantly in the current financial year 2022-23 in the district, the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) said.

Member of Parliament of Natore-1 constituency ((Lalpur and Bagatipara) Md Shihedul Islam (Bakul) inaugurates the distribution function and handed over the incentives among the famers of the upazila as the chief guest this morning with Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shamima Sultana in the chair.

Upazila Administration and Upazila Agriculture Office jointly organised the distribution function.

The distribution function was held on the Upazila Parishad premise this morning.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest said the present government is farmer-friendly as it has taken various steps for the development of agriculture. It is working relentlessly for the development of agriculture and farmers. As a result production of food in the country has increased manifold, he added.

Under the programme, each farmer was given five kilograms of high-yielding (Ufhsi) Aush paddy seed, 10 kg of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertiliser and 10 kg of muriate of potash (MOP) fertiliser and one kg of jute seed free of cost for cultivating one bigha of land, upazila agriculture officer Rafiqul Islam said.
