Two siblings were burnt to death after a fire broke out at their house at Bhedarganj upazila in Shariatpur district on Tuesday morning.
They died at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn & Plastic Surgery around 4:30 am.
The deceased were Samia, 11, and her brother Arafat,11, children of Mansur Dhali, a resident of Ashraf Beparir Kandi village under Sakhipur union.
Meanwhile, their sister Mim, 13, was seriously injured in the incident and is undergoing treatment.
The fire incident took place at their house on Monday night around 10:30 pm.
According to police, Mansur Dhali’s two daughters and one son were sleeping in a room. Suddenly, a fire broke out in the room around 10:30 pm. Neighbors came and brought the fire under control after an hour of effort.
Later, being informed, fire service personnel rescued the children with the help of local residents and sent them to Dhaka where the duo died while undergoing treatment around 4:30 am.
Bhedarganj Fire Service acting station officer GM Amir Hossain confirmed the matter.
In Bhola, A man was burned to death in a fire at a cotton warehouse in Western Para Sagar Bekari area of Bhola Sadar Upazila on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Ibrahim, 45. The fire also burned down three adjacent houses.
Bhola fire service and civil defense inspector Md. Suman said that four fire service units brought the fire under control after one and a half hour effort.
It is initially believed that the fire broke out from an electrical short circuit in the cotton warehouse, he added.
However, the extent of damages has not been confirmed yet.
