Shop closed in Jhenaidha due to complaint of beating customer

The National Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) has sealed a shop of readymade clothes named Meena Bastra Bitan due to a complaint of beating an elderly customer by a seller in Madhuganj Bazar of Kaliganj upazila of Jhenaidah on Saturday.

According to a press release from the DNCRP Nazrul Islam, a resident of Jhenaidah’s Kaliganj Upazila went to the shop on April 14 and asked for the price of children’s clothes. The seller demanded the price of the clothes at Tk 400, at one stage of bargaining, Nazrul Islam told the seller that he would pay Tk 250 for the product.

It was alleged that the sellers got angry and beat up Nazrul Islam. A video recording of the incident went viral on social media.

The Directorate General of DNCRP AHM Safikuzzaman ordered further investigation when the matter of beating up an old man in the market came to the attention of higher authorities.
