Five accused arrested

Five accused of the murder of former Jubo League leader and former councilor of Shibganj municipality Khairul Alam Jem were arrested from different parts of the country. Superintendent of Police (SP) AHM Abdur Rokib disclosed this while brief-ing the newsmen at his office on Monday.

The arrestees were brought before the journalists and their identities were disclosed. The arrested persons are- Md. Mesbaul Hoque Tutul, 42, son of Md. Altab Hossain of Milki Baganpara, Md. Masud Rana, 38, son of late Moazzem Hossain of Masjidpara, Md. Ibrahim alias Daud Ibrahim alias Haba, 32, son of late Anwar Hossain of Masjidpara, Md. Shamim Reza, 35, son of Md. Reaz Uddin of Hujrapur Railbagan and Md. Milon Hossain, 30, son of Md. Sanaul Hoque of Prantikpara all under Chapainawabganj municipality.

The SP briefed that former Jubo League leader and former councilor of Shibganj municipality Khairul Alam Jem was stabbed on different parts of his body at Udayan More area in the town by some miscreants at 6-20 pm on April 19 last.

Later the injured was admitted to the Chapainawabganj District Hospital where the attending doctors on duty declared him dead at 8-30 pm.

Jem’s elder brother, Monirul Islam, later filed a murder case with Chapainawabganj Sadar Model thana on April 22, he add-ed.

He further added that police of Chapainawabganj Sadar and the Detective Branch (DB) conducted joint drives and arrested them.
