32 kg Baghair caught in Rajbari

A rare-breed Baghair fish, weighing around 32 kg, was caught in the Padma River at Goalanda upazila in Rajbari district on Tuesday morning.

Baghair fish is critically endangered in the country due to habitat loss and food scarcity.

Joynal Sardar, a fisherman, netted the fish from the river at Daulatdia Ferry Ghat area of the upazila.

The whole fish was sold at the Daulatdia fish market in an open auction of Tk 41,600 in the morning.

Chandu Molla, the buyer of the fish, said he will sell the fish at a slight profit. The fish of Padma is very delicious. So it will be sold by afternoon, he added.
