Seven people were killed and several others injured in separate road accidents in Pabna, Chattogram and Jashore.
In Pabna, a student of Pabna Islamia College identified as Mitu Khatun,18, was killed when a bus of Omar Travels hit Mitu while she was crossing the road on the Pabna-Dhaka highway around 12.30 pm, leaving her dead on the spot, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Thana Police Kripa Sindhu Bala, confirmed.
In another accident, Santhia Police Inspector (Investigation) Kamal Kumar Debnath said that a brick-laden trolley going to Santhia from Kashinathpur, collided head-on with a passenger bus of Shahjadpur Travels around 11am, leaving Jewel Hossain, 25, and Suruj Sheikh, 18, dead on the spot.
In Chattrogram, a man named Alamgir, 35, died after being hit by a human hauler on Hazrat Yasin Shah Road in Raozan’s Haldia union Tuesday afternoon.
In Jashore, three persons, including two members of a family, were killed in a road accident on the Jashore-Chuknagar road in Bujtala area under Keshabpur upazila of the district Monday night.
The deceased were identified as Jahangir Joardar, 44, resident of Dumuria upazila of Khulna district and his son Mostain Joardar, 14, and Golam Mostafa, 22, son of Abdus Sattar, a resident of Malangi area of the same upazila.
The accident occurred around 7.30pm in the area when a motorbike collided head-on with another one, leaving two bike riders dead on the spot and injuring another, Station Officer of Keshabpur Fire Service and Civil Defense Shankar Biswas said.
The injured was taken to Keshabpur Upazila Health Complex where he succumbed to his injuries, he said
Police seized two motorcycles, officer-in-charge (OC) of Keshabpur Police Station Mofizur Rahman said.
A case was filed in this connection, the OC added.
