BNPS protests Mukti Borman murder

Bangladesh Nari Progati Sangha (BNPS) organises a human chain protesting the murder of the grade X student in Netrakona’s Barhatta upazila Wednesday afternoon.

Barhatta police station OC Khokon Kumar Saha confirmed that police have arrested the accused Kawsar in regard to the incident. He was arrested from a forest near the Premnagar Eidgaon ground of the upazila around 3 pm on Wednesday.

The teenage girl was hacked to death allegedly by a young man on her way home from school in Barhatta Tuesday afternoon.

Deceased Mukti Borman, 16, was a student of Class X at Premnagar Salipura High School and daughter of Nikhil Borman, a resident of Premnagar Salipura village in the upazila.

Confirming the matter, the victim’s brother Liton Borman said her sister was declared dead after she was taken to Netrakona Adhunik Sadar Hospital.

Mukti’s schoolmates said Kawser Mia, 19, a resident of Premnagar Salipura village, started chopping her when they were returning home from school, leaving her injured.

She was first rushed to a hospital in Barhatta by local people and from there she was sent to Netrakona.
