Three killed in road crashes

At least three people were killed and several others injured in separate road accidents in Dinajpur and Jadhore on Wednesday.

In Dinajpur, two people died after a truck hit a van in Chandapar area under Parbatipur upazila.

The deceased was identified as Abul Kalam, 50, and his nephew Ashraful Islam, 25. Confirming the incident, Abul Hasnat Khan of Parbatipur Model Police Station said their family is preparing to lodge a complaint.

In Jashore, a 45-year-man was killed and 30 people were injured when a bus overturned on the Jashore-Magura highway in front of Kodalia Government Primary School in Sadar upazila.

The deceased was identified as Basu Karmakar, 45, son of Madhu Karmakar of Gopaldi area under Madhukhali upazila in Faridpur.

Jashore Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Tajul Islam said that the injured passengers were sent to local hospitals with the help of locals.

The bus is in the custody of Barobazar highway police station, he added.

Locals said the accident occurred when the Magura-bound local bus lost its control and overturned on the highway around 7:30 am, leaving at least 30 passengers of the bus injured.
