Sub-inspector (SI) of Bhatiapara Highway Police Station of Kashiani upazila Sirajul Islam said the veteran freedom fighter Abul Hossain arrived at Ghonapara bus stand of Kashiani upazila on the Dhaka-Khulna highway around 9:30pm to go to Khulna. He signalled a Khulna-bound BMS transport bus to stop. Despite slowing down at that place, the bus hit the freedom fighter.

The killer bus has been impounded and the bus driver Shah Alam has been arrested. The body of the freedom fighter has been handed over to the relatives, the SI said.
